On July 23, 2019, my heart was ripped out of my chest. My 31-year-old son, Omari Thompson Sr., was ambushed by undercover police and shot eight times, killing him. The investigation is still pending, but our hearts are not mending.
He has his parents, six sisters, two brothers, one son, with a daughter due in January. His girlfriend, his grandmother, six nephews, and two nieces, with another niece due in December. Omari was a loving and kind man. His smile and laughter lit up the room. He was very intelligent and worked well with his hands. His nieces and nephews adored him, and he was a great and amazing dad for four years to his son. He just missed his fifth birthday.
