My daughter, Shanice, was one of three who were murdered after a fun night with some friends. After she’d consented to give a ride to three young men — acquaintances through one of her girlfriends she was with — shots suddenly rang out from around the car she drove. It was from other young men who had issues with one of the young men being offered the ride home, from a previous encounter, some months prior. As my daughter sat in the driver’s seat, she was hit directly through the windshield and from the driver’s side door and window. The other victims were the young man who was their target and another one of my daughter’s friends. Everyone else in the car suffered injuries but survived. My daughter was just a month and two days shy of her 20th birthday.
