Five years ago, Sarah died by gun suicide. Her death has left a hole in the fabric of our family across all three immediate generations, and the ripple effect will certainly be felt through the next.
I think of her joy and laughter when I plant her favorite vegetables in my garden. And I celebrate her life during harvest and at family meals. I still consider dishes to bring to those family meals that she would like and mentally save a place for her at the table.
