My son Cortez Rivers was killed as a result of gun violence on September 20, 2014. My life has not been the same. Nine years later, and some days it feels like it just happened. He was 16 years old when he was killed; as of now, today, it hurts. I must say – if you have a family member or friend you know of that has lost someone due to gun violence or was a victim of gun violence…check on your people. They will act like they are fine, but they can be going through it. This pain I know is everlasting; we just learn how to live with the hurt and pain. I have a nonprofit organization I’m working on called SAVE US FROM GUN VIOLENCE. I would love to help people who are suffering from gun violence, to let them know they are not alone.
