I lived in a neighborhood where gun violence became disruptive to our lives. I was in fear my family would find me shot in my car, and I feared to let them walk to a friend’s home. We had to teach our children what to do if they heard gunshots or saw someone with a gun. After a pizza delivery man was shot in front of my home, I decided to move before my fears became reality. We lost thousands of dollars on the house because people don’t want to invest in a home where they have to be scared. Many of my old neighbors couldn’t move, and I feel concern for them.
