total hearts received for Moments That Survive

My nephew, Von Cratic, was shot and murdered on Thanksgiving morning in 2021. He was my sister’s only child — she had him at 40 years old — and she called him Angel boy. He was 22 years old, a very unique young man. Creative and gifted. He painted art and made music. He wasn’t in a gang, and he dressed different than the other youth. I gave a talent show with my nonprofit Power of Predestiny Ministries (P.O.P.), Ypsilanti High Talent Showcase, and he won first place. The judges chose him!

We are devastated. My sister goes to counseling. However, he will never be forgotten; every year my nonprofit P.O.P. partners with Moms Demand Action to have the STOP THE GUN VIOLENCE COMMUNITY OUTREACH in honor of him and all gun violence victims. I hope to one day get a community center with a recording studio in honor of Von Cratic. Now I’m Washtenaw County’s Community Outreach Lead with Moms Demand Action. They paid for the flight, food and room to Washington D.C. to advocate on the Hill for new gun laws, and I was chosen to meet President Biden.

He was taken for a bigger cause; we’ll help save others.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
