My closest high school friend committed suicide after a tour in Vietnam and a brief marriage. He was a medic and saw the horrors of war on a daily basis and was forever changed. The last time I saw him, he was deeply disturbed but putting up a strong front. He moved out west, and a few years later, my mother told me about his suicide.
To this day, I still feel the pain of losing Bob. Yet I am not alone. A few of Bob’s high school friends continue to grieve as we remember Bob via social media. In the end, there is only loss and sadness.
