William Lopez

In memory of William Lopez

On August 18, 2011, my son William was murdered. He was 22. My life has forever changed. His friend picked him up because he had gotten into a fight over some girl at a bar. I don’t know why he picked him up, but he did. As they were leaving the bar, Victor Padiila — this is the person who was fighting with William’s friend — started shooting. As they were leaving, one shot went into the trunk and backseat, killing my son. The bullet hit his main artery. The worst part: his friend fled the scene. My son bled to death. There was no justice. This person got away with it. The system let me down. It was a mess. Susan Reed made a mess of it and called it self-defense. I have left it in God’s hands. He will take care of it. RIP my sweet Angel
